My Entrepreneurship Story

Over this past winter break, I traveled back home and was able to catch up with one of my cousins who goes to Belmont University in Tennessee. I asked him how school was going and he told me that he changed his degree to entrepreneurship. I had little knowledge about what this entailed and he explained he really enjoys being an innovator and wants to start up his own business. He began to work part time for a company that uses cryotherapy to help athletes recover faster. He believes this form of therapy will become the new universal way of athletes maintaining their bodies. During his time there, many professional athletes from around the area came in to test it out.

I enrolled in ENT3003 because of this encounter with my cousin. I have always believed that I have the potential to create a business that is innovative and successful. Throughout this semester, I want learn through experiences how I can further my development as an individual and retain it for my future.

  1. Nice post, Brian. I have never heard of cryotherapy, until now. It sounds fascinating and I'll have to research it later. Maybe building a gym that has a therapy center with a cryochamber will be the future. I have always believed I have the potential to own an innovative business as well, so I'm testing the waters just like you. From reading your post it seems like we are heading down the same road. I am currently a Bio major trying to figure out what my calling is. Hopefully this class will help us narrow down what we would like to do with our lives.

  2. Hi Brian,
I really enjoyed reading your "Entrepreneurship Story"! Like the above commenter, I have never heard of cryotherapy either! After doing a little search about it I have to say that it sounds really cool and very innovative. I think that it sounds like a much better replacement to ice baths (I always hated those in high school after cross country practice) so this should really be welcomed and promoted in the various sports fields. Most importantly, I'm glad you decided to take this class because of your cousin. ENT3003 was a very rewarding experience for me and I was able to participate in so much more than what a typical course would provide.

I hope you enjoy the course and I look forward to reading future posts!

  3. Hey Brain,
Great post, I have heard and done some research on cryotherapy and from everything I have heard or read about it it seems like the real deal. I have a few bodies of mine who also been working with cryotherapy. Being once an athlete and knowing how much time it takes to recover and get ready for the next game, anything to speed up that process I'm all for and like your TA said if I can avoid taking an ice bath that's cool with me too. Once again I really enjoyed your post and wish you the best.

  4. I had heard, and am aware of cryotherapy, but am somewhat ignorant of the details involved. Knowing that it is a therapy for tissue damage I can see how sports medicine could be benefited. I also can imagine applications involving high physical impact jobs (e.g. firefighter, construction, etc.). I don't know the feasibility of these things, but, I could definitely imagine it would be useful.
